Brochure

This is my brochure from my english project. Its just facts but its done so just tell me what you like.

Home for the Destitute Dying

Is a peaceful place, where the poor people of Calcutta can come in off the streets to die with dignity. Most hospitals would not let these people in or help them. They would be left to die alone on the streets. Thanks to Mother Teresa and her missionary, the Home for the Destitute Dying opened in 1952, and was run with the help of volunteers. Nurses and doctors also came to help. Thousands of people received their help. About half of the people brought in end up living.

A School in the Slums

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come learn from Mother Teresa. On the first day they had only 5 students. Today they often have over 500. Most of her students are very poor, and live in the slums. She teaches reading and writing by drawing in the dirt with a stick. Hygiene is also an important part of learning each day. At school she washes the kids with soap and teaches them to do it themselves. Students also get a little bit of milk each day, which is a rare and very important nutrient to keep the kids healthy.

Shishu Bhavan

Is a home specifically for dying and abandoned kids. Often on the streets of Calcutta, parents can’t care for and feed their children, or just don’t want them. Mother Teresa loves all children. No one is turned away; everyone is welcome. She cares for crippled, diseased, and mentally challenged. Kids often come in covered in sores and lice. Mother Teresa and her helpers nurse them back to health, so they may be able to go back home. And if they don’t have a home to go to, they are welcome to stay until they are old enough to marry and go off on their own.
